I discovered The Band in high school and listened to them constantly in college.  The former backup band for Bob Dylan (who will make an appearance or two on this blog), The Band are an incredible group of musicians who tore it up at Woodstock and for years to follow.  The star of this song, besides Levon Helm (the drummer) and his amazing vocals, are Garth Hudson switching back between a Clavinet (an electronic keyboard that sounds like a harp) and an organ.  The Clavinet is also used in Superstition by Stevie Wonder, and my favorite Rolling Stones song Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker).
